Citygate supports the Scrappage Scheme

The Government has announced in the budget that there will be a Car Scrappage Scheme which will start in the middle of May. Volkswagen and Citygate recognize the potential benefits to motorists and the environment and welcome the initiative.

Exact details of the scheme are yet to be confirmed but essentially customers trading in a car which was registered before 31st July 1999 will qualify for a discount of £2,000 when purchasing a new vehicle. The scheme will help remove older cars from our roads, replacing them with safer and more environmentally-friendly models.

The scheme will run from mid-May 2009 and will be available to the first 300,000 eligible claimants or until 31st March 2010, whichever comes first. The vehicle traded in must be a car or van weighing up to 3.5 tonnes which has been registered to you continuously for 12 months before the order date of the new vehicle. You must have a UK address on the registration certificate and a current MOT certificate before the new vehicle is ordered.

The discount will be offered against a new car or van weighing up to 3.5 tonnes which is registered in the UK on or after mid-May 2009 and declared new at first registration in the UK with no former keepers.

We will insure the full scheme information is updated on our website as and when its available.
