Citygate Automotive Limited began trading in February 2006, after completion of a management buy-out from parent company H.R Owen Plc.

Building on the excellent reputation gained whilst under the H.R Owen umbrella, the aim of the acquisition was to continue to provide the highest level of service to new and existing customers. The buy-out provided the ideal opportunity to expand on existing services, and to enable the future development of the company.

As part of H.R Owen since 1993, the business had successfully built up a loyal client base and an exceptional management team. The strength of the management, sales and technical teams is one of the fundamental elements which enabled the smooth transition into Citygate Volkswagen as it exists today.

Citygate employs 330 staff across five Volkswagen retail operations in Ruislip, Colindale, Watford, Chalfont and High Wycombe and one van centre in Colindale.

The combined operation sells in excess of 7,000 new and used vehicles each year and generates over £80 million in turnover. In addition, the group also operates 75 workshop bays and a Volkswagen Approved Bodyshop.
